Background of the Study
Mobile money has revolutionized business transactions, especially in developing economies, where access to traditional banking services may be limited. In Kano State, mobile money services have become increasingly popular, providing traders with a fast, secure, and convenient way to conduct business transactions. Mobile money has been shown to enhance financial inclusion, reduce transaction costs, and improve cash flow for small businesses (Ibrahim & Adebayo, 2023).

This study will explore the role of mobile money in enhancing business transactions among traders in Kano State, focusing on how it facilitates day-to-day operations, improves financial management, and supports business growth.

Statement of the Problem
While mobile money has been widely adopted in many parts of Nigeria, some traders in Kano State still face challenges related to mobile money adoption, such as low digital literacy, security concerns, and network issues. This study will investigate how mobile money has been integrated into business transactions and the barriers that traders encounter in using these services.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the role of mobile money in enhancing business transactions among traders in Kano State.
  2. To evaluate the impact of mobile money on business efficiency and customer satisfaction in Kano State.
  3. To identify the challenges faced by traders in adopting mobile money services and propose solutions.

Research Questions

  1. How does mobile money enhance business transactions among traders in Kano State?
  2. What impact does mobile money have on business efficiency and customer satisfaction in Kano State?
  3. What challenges do traders in Kano State face in adopting mobile money, and how can these be addressed?

Research Hypotheses

  1. H0: Mobile money does not significantly enhance business transactions among traders in Kano State.
  2. H0: Mobile money adoption does not significantly improve business efficiency or customer satisfaction in Kano State.
  3. H0: There are no significant barriers to the adoption of mobile money among traders in Kano State.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study will focus on traders in Kano State who use mobile money for business transactions. Limitations include potential biases in self-reporting and challenges in assessing the full range of mobile money’s impact on business outcomes.

  1. Mobile Money: A financial service that allows users to make transactions, such as sending and receiving money, using their mobile phones.
  2. Business Transactions: The exchange of goods, services, or money between businesses and customers or other entities.
  3. Financial Inclusion: The availability and accessibility of financial services to individuals and businesses, especially those in underserved areas.
